Origin of the event

Day of the Dead Cultural Evening

The Day of the Dead Cultural Evening in Ensenada is an event that was born with the intention of connecting the deep cultural roots of Mexico with the flourishing viticulture of Baja California. This festival is more than just a celebration; it is a bridge between two worlds: the ancestral tradition of the Day of the Dead and the modern passion for wine.

With the vision of strengthening the cultural identity of the north of the country, the event seeks to pay homage to our loved ones and, at the same time, celebrate the end of the grape harvest, a fundamental milestone in regional viticulture. Inspired by the symbolism of the Mictlan (the underworld in the Aztec cosmovision), the Cultural Evening brings families together to participate in altar contests, displays of the iconic “Mega Catrina,” live music, mariachi, and folkloric ballet.
This event not only honors the deceased, but also highlights Baja California’s vital role as one of the country’s leading wine regions.
